CIVA Conference attendees come from a variety of backgrounds - students, curators, collectors, professors, gallery owners, pastors, art lovers, social justice leaders and of course, artists. Whether you are a scholar or sculptor, social worker or skeptic, there will be a place at the table for you. CIVA Conferences are an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in art, find space for quiet contemplation, strengthen networks, and enjoy wide-ranging conversations with leaders in the Art and Faith community.
Can I attend if I am not a CIVA member?
Of course! While there is a significant discounted registration rate for CIVA Members, we encourage you to attend even if you are not a current member. Or become a member today and immediately enjoy the benefits.
What is the refund policy?
100% Refundable through June 1, 2021
$50 Non-refundable fee after June 1 to September 1, 2021
$100 non-refundable fee after September 1, 2021
No Cancelations after October 22, 2021
Registration transfers are permitted
What is the conference COVID policy?
CIVA understands that regulations and recommendations concerning COVID continue to change. CIVA staff, volunteers, and conference attendees are to be respectful of each conference venue and their COVID policies - which may differ from location to location. Are scholarships available?

What is the CIVA Online Art Auction?
Auction proceeds will go to support CIVA programming and mission. Bidding is open to the public and takes place November 4-6, 2021. Visit the auction catalog to learn more.
What is a plenary session?
A plenary session or plenum is a session in which all conference participants are to attend. Such a session may include a broad range of content, from keynotes to panel discussions, and is not necessarily related to a specific style of presentation or deliberative process.
What is the Late Late Show?
The Late Late Show is an opportunity for artists to share their current work with the CIVA community. We will be accepting high-resolution images and creating a signup sheet for artists to have their work projected and shared with other conference attendees. You must register before you are able to sign-up for the Late Late Show. At this time, the show is full. To be added to the waitlist, please contact the CIVA office.
Will CIVA be reserving a block of rooms at a hotel?
Unfortunately... no. CIVA will not be reserving hotels for our attendees. We believe there are plenty of options for every size, shape, and budget in the downtown Austin area.
Can I book a room with another CIVA attendee?
CIVA will not be facilitating any room shares. However, you are more than welcome to make your own arrangements with those you know. After you register for the conference, you will be invited to a group in the CIVA Network specifically for conference where you can chat with fellow attendees and express a desire for a roommate.
Are there meal options?
The food options in Austin are just too excellent to ignore, so this year grab a group of CIVA friends and discover the vibrant options in downtown Austin. You’ll have access to food trucks just steps away on 6th street, BBQ, Tex-Mex, and Michelin starred restaurants at your fingertips.
But what about the Coffee & Snacks?
Oh don’t you fret! CIVA will have you covered for those in-between times when you need to refuel.
What technology/WiFi is availble
Our conference sites will have free WiFi for attendees. Be sure to check with your chosen hotel to see if they have your technology needs covered.
How do I prepare?
First - All participants must register in order to attend the conference. Space is limited, so don't drag your feet too long!
Second - As noted previously, all attendees will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging and meals. Start planning!
Third - Keep an eye out for emails and communications from CIVA with more details and information as we get closer to conference.
What kind of weather should I pack for?
Layers. All the layers. Austin in November can give us anything... 90’s and sticky to cool and sudden showers, all in one day! Texans will tell you, you can get all four seasons in one day.
